Reports to: Operations Manager

Job Purpose:

We are looking for highly organized candidates with 8 years and above proven experience in activities related to weights and measurements.

Description

Key Responsibilities

  1. Manage and Oversee Weights and Measurements Operations: Ensure all activities related to weights and measurements are conducted according to regulatory standards, providing technical support where needed.

  2. Network Administration and Systems Integration: Oversee network administration and ensure the smooth integration of systems in a database management environment. Ensure the proper functioning of electronic weighing equipment.

  3. Technical Compliance and Certification: Maintain compliance with weights and measures regulations, including managing certifications and repair licenses for Type 3 electronic weighing equipment.

  4. Staff Management and Development: Lead and mentor technical staff, ensuring effective team management, training, and development. Conduct performance reviews and manage staff in line with company policies.

  5. Project Coordination: Collaborate with the Operations Manager to coordinate technical projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget while meeting quality and safety standards.

  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records for all technical operations, including compliance, project documentation, and network performance metrics. Regularly report to the Operations Manager.

    Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

    1. Compliance Rate: Achieve a 100% compliance rate with weights and measures regulations and other industry standards.

    2. System Uptime and Reliability: Maintain network uptime above 99% and ensure prompt troubleshooting of any system issues.

    3. Project Completion Rate: Successfully complete 90% of assigned technical projects on time and within budget.

    4. Equipment Maintenance and Repair Efficiency: Ensure that all weighing equipment is maintained and repaired within a specified timeframe, with minimal downtime.

    5. Staff Training and Retention: Provide at least 10 hours of professional development per quarter for team members and achieve a 90% staff retention rate.

    6. Accuracy in Documentation and Reporting: Maintain an error-free documentation record and submit reports on time, meeting the standards set by the company and regulatory bodies.

Education

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in any of Information Technology or Engineering related courses (Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechatronic Engineer, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical & Communications Engineering, Bachelor of Technology (Electronics & Systems), Bachelor of Technology (Instrumentation & Control), Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering)  from a recognized University.
  • Certificate in Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution

More Details on Experience

  • A minimum of eight (8) years in relevant work and at least (5) years in a management role in comparable position in the Public Service or in the Private Sector preferably in activities related to weights and measurements.
  • Minimum of at least five 5 years hands-on experience in Network Administration or Systems integration in a busy database management environment.

More Details on Skills

  • The candidate should be of high integrity (provide a current certificate of good conduct).
  • Has certificate of competence from weights and measures department to carry out repairs to Type 3 electronic weighing equipment
