Summary

The U.S. Mission in Nairobi is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Residential Maintenance Coordinator (Landlord Coordinator).

Description

  • The Facility Management Landlord Coordinator is responsible for liaising with the landlords' representatives concerning issues and deficiencies associated with approximately 230 leased properties.
  • They will ensure that repairs and general maintenance, required by the landlord done safely and responsibly. Incumbent will assess the building's condition including structural, electrical, and plumbing and ensure clear communication with the occupants on the status of landlord work being performed.
  • They will inform the Facility Manager and the GSO Leasing office of landlord communication issues and document all actions taken.
  • The jobholder will assist the Make Ready Supervisor with the scheduling of make ready activities including coordination of the landlords' contractors.
  • The jobholder will also assist in preparing and reviewing all documentation related to the operation of the U.S. Government leased residences. 
  • Position will be supervised by the Deputy Facility Manager.

Education

  • Completion of secondary school and two (2) years of vocational training that provides the knowledge, skills and abilities for a building inspector is required.
  • English Level III (Good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing is required (This may be tested).

  • Kiswahili Level III (Good working knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing is required.

More Details on Experience

  • Three (3) years of professional, full-time experience as a building inspector with a public or private agency is required.

More Details on Skills

  • Reading, understanding, and interpreting construction plans and specifications accurately.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Physical ability to bend, stoop, crawl, climb, and lift as required to perform a building inspection.
  • A valid Kenyan driver license and at least five (5) years driving a car or pickup truck required.
  • Must have knowledge of MS office suite.
  • Good typing skills also required.
