The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) is a membership-based trade support institution (TSI) working to protect the commercial and industrial interests of the Kenyan business community.
KNCCI advocates for the creation of a favorable commercial, trade, and investment environment that supports enterprise expansion.
The membership of KNCCI constitutes small, micro enterprises (MSMEs), medium and large enterprises.
The Kenya National Chambers of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) in collaboration with Grassroots Business Fund (GBF), DT Global, Powered by People, 4G Capital, GROOTS, and KEPSA are implementing the Jiinue Growth Program (JGP) in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation.
JGP seeks to address the funding gap for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Kenya by pairing up financial support with well-tailored technical assistance, and a hands-on coordination strategy between various players in the ecosystem targeting enterprises owned and managed by young women and men entrepreneurs aged 18-35 across the country.
The Program targets to impact 225,000 microenterprises over a five-year period and to create 500,000 jobs for the youth.
About the Job
KNCCI is seeking to engage a project field officer who will be based at the County Chapter offices to support the implementation of the JGP program at the county level. This role will provide a full range of implementation assistance at all phases of the program cycle and will support program sensitization, mobilization, communication, data collection, and monitoring. The holder of the position will work closely with the respective County Chapter Chair to ensure proper implementation of the project.
Description
- Oversee sensitization and implementation of the project within the respective county and help mitigate issues and challenges.
- Handling the project correspondences within the chapter and responding to inquiries from stakeholders.
- In collaboration with the county chapter leadership, identify and mobilize a pipeline of youth micro-entrepreneurs within respective counties to access technical assistance and for onboarding as possible borrowers.
- Support in scheduling, organizing, and planning for training activities within the county. This will include creating a training schedule, coordinating with the county Jiinue Enterprise Trainers (JETs), identifying cost-effective training venues, and ensuring all logistics are in place.
- Conduct training and needs assessment.
- Ensure all financial documentation is in place and submitted to HQ in a timely manner to facilitate payment. This includes invoices and receipts.
- Oversee the training to ensure effective delivery of the technical assistance component at the county level
- Collect, manage, and maintain KNCCI participant's data, ensuring its safekeeping and onward submission to the HQ office.
- In collaboration with the JGP Communication lead, ensure correct communication is disseminated within the county and all project collateral is available at the county level.
- Track and monitor the progress of participants and document success stories within the respective county.
- Ensure proper continuous documentation and dissemination/reporting of activities throughout the capacity building period such as lessons learned, success, and challenges
- Prepare and submit weekly progress reports and monthly reports to JGP HQ
- Operate in compliance with policies, code of conduct and work culture of the organization.
- Participate and support counties in institutional strengthening
Education
- University degree preferably in Business Management, Entrepreneurship, Community Development, Project Management, Education or any other related social science field.
- Other business-related professional qualifications are an added advantage

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent leadership, supervisory, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, time management skills, and multi-stakeholder engagement skills; conversant with the relevant local language in the indicated preferred county of deployment.
- Experience working with microenterprises with a passion for youth economic empowerment.
- Strong training and facilitation skills.
- Professional training certification will be an added advantage.
- You must be a fast learner, result-oriented, self-driven, team player, problem solver, agile and flexible, and have high integrity.
