Role Summary
Ajala Mobile is seeking disciplined, emotionally mature, and highly dependable individuals to serve as Professional Listeners on its anonymous calling and messaging platform.
This is a serious human-support role that requires strong listening ability, emotional intelligence, confidentiality, sound judgment, and the ability to remain calm during sensitive conversations. Ajala Mobile users may reach out when dealing with stress, loneliness, relationship difficulties, grief, family pressure, work-related challenges, financial anxiety, emotional distress, or other personal concerns.
A Professional Listener is not simply someone who enjoys talking to people. This role requires structure, patience, discretion, professionalism, and the ability to follow clear safety and escalation procedures.
Selected candidates will be trained to provide a safe, respectful, and non-judgmental listening experience through the Ajala Mobile platform.
Purpose of the Role
The purpose of the Professional Listener role is to provide users with a confidential and supportive space where they can express themselves freely, feel heard, and receive structured emotional support through conversation.
Professional Listeners will support users with empathy while maintaining professional boundaries, confidentiality, and clear referral procedures where additional support is required.

The Professional Listener will be expected to:
- Receive and respond to user calls or messages through the Ajala Mobile platform.
- Listen actively, respectfully, and without judgment.
- Create a safe and confidential environment for users to speak openly.
- Support users experiencing everyday emotional, social, or personal challenges.
- Maintain professional boundaries at all times.
- Avoid giving harmful, inappropriate, or unqualified advice.
- Identify conversations that may require escalation or referral.
- Follow Ajala Mobile’s safeguarding, confidentiality, and user safety procedures.
- Participate in training, supervision, assessment, and quality review.
- Maintain accurate, professional, and confidential records where required.
- Represent Ajala Mobile with integrity, discretion, and care.
Education
Applicants must demonstrate:
- Strong listening and communication skills.
- Emotional maturity and self-control.
- Ability to handle sensitive conversations calmly.
- Respect for confidentiality and privacy.
- Good judgment and personal discipline.
- Ability to follow structured procedures and escalation guidelines.
- Professional conduct when dealing with vulnerable or distressed users.
- Fluency in English, Kiswahili, Sheng, or other local languages.
- Access to a reliable phone, internet connection, and basic digital tools.
- Willingness to undergo automated screening, training, assessment, supervision, and performance monitoring.
