Summary
Responsible for providing support services related to all legal matters and offering Board secretariat services including maintenance of accurate records and management of document and communication to clients.
Description
- Work closely with the records team in the maintenance of legal office records and filing correspondences;
- Official search, filing and registration of documents;
- Support the process of gathering information and evidence on cases and compiling the cases as required;
- Draft, type correspondence letters from the Legal Unit and dispatch them accordingly;
- Keep a record of all meetings for the section and drawing action plans for follow up sessions;
- Support the Legal Officer in representing the scheme in all disputes including arbitration or litigation in the Court;
- Provide support and document management for any ongoing litigation and arbitrations/mediations to ensure proper case management;
- Participate in legal research and participate in vetting and drawing contracts, lease, loans agreement and other legal documents;
- Ensure seamless archiving of records of contracts, leases, loan agreements and the covenants therein;
- Monitor and inform the Legal Officer of renewals or termination of agreements;
- Provide support in drawing up of contracts, lease documents, loan agreements and other legal documents;
- Provide support to the Legal Officer in the provision of Board secretariat services to the Board of Trustees;
- Actively follow up on maintenance and filing all court proceedings as per established systems;
- Prepare legal documents as required and participate in handling insurance matters as and when required;
- Attend to Annual General Meeting as and when required; and
- Prepare legal reports as and when may be required;
- Maintain legal office records, filing correspondences and update files current status online and opening new file cases;
- Process advocate’s fee vouchers and requisitioning of payments; and
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree
Postgraduate Diploma
Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a recognized institution;
A Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Studies from the Kenya School of Law;
