Summary
Reporting to the Group Managing Director, the overall purpose of this role is to lead the development and execution of innovative business strategies that drive the creation of new products, services and whilst exploring emerging markets. The role will also oversee continual improvement engagement across the entity.
Description
Market Intelligence & Insights
⚫ Conduct market research to understand Business Opportunities, customer pain points to address any unmet needs and gaps in the market.
⚫ Work closely with Marketing and sales teams to ensure new products are positioned effectively in the marketplace.
⚫ Analyze and act on feedback from customers, suppliers, and internal teams to refine products and ensure competitive advantage.
New Product Development:
⚫ Oversee the entire product lifecycle, from concept development to commercialization.
⚫ Collaborate with Marketing, Sales, Quality and Production teams to ensure product feasibility, scalability, and profitability.
⚫ Drive the ideation, design, prototyping, and testing phases of new product development.
⚫ Ensure all new products meet quality, regulatory, and safety standards set out in Unga.
⚫ Develop an agile Innovation framework for monitoring and measuring the performance of new products in the market as well as a recall mechanism on poor performing products.
New Business Development:
⚫ Work with the various functional leads to Identify new business opportunities across all the product categories of UHL.
⚫ Identify and explore potential mergers, acquisitions, or licensing opportunities to strengthen the company’s product portfolio.
Project Management:
Lead cross-functional & Agile teams in the planning, execution, and launch of new product initiatives.
⚫ Manage timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to meet product development goals.
⚫ Track and report on the progress of innovation projects to senior management and stakeholders.
Continual Improvement Initiatives and Industry Representation:
⚫ Champion continual improvement initiatives by driving a culture of innovation and excellence.
⚫ Engage key stakeholders in PaTaMu (Continual Improvement) initiatives, fostering collaboration and ownership.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a Business-Related Field or Product Design
More Details on Experience
- At least 10 years of experience in New Product Innovation and Research within a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrable experience in successful product launches and innovation strategies.
