Summary

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Full-Time Accountant to provide financial oversight, ensure statutory compliance, and support management through accurate and timely financial reporting. The accountant will be responsible for managing day-to-day bookkeeping operations, maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring all transactions are properly captured and reconciled, and preparing monthly financial statements. The role will also oversee statutory filings, including VAT and PAYE, ensuring full compliance with all relevant financial and tax regulations, while supporting the organization in maintaining strong financial controls, accountability, and reporting standards.

Description

  • Prepare and maintain accurate bookkeeping records and accounting entries
  • Prepare and Record all invoices, bills, expenses,  Deliveries and Etims and other financial transactions accurately and in a timely manner
  • Perform bank reconciliations and promptly resolve any discrepancies
  • Ensure expenses are properly matched, allocated, and categorized
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, including Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports
  • Analyze financial performance and present reports to management
  • Prepare and file statutory returns including VAT, PAYE, and other applicable tax returns within required deadlines
  • Ensure compliance with Kenya Revenue Authority and other statutory requirements
  • Support external audits and maintain accurate financial documentation and audit schedules
  • Assist management with budgeting, cash flow management, financial controls, and financial planning
  • Maintain organized, up-to-date, and secure accounting records and supporting documents
  • Monitor accounts payable and receivable to ensure timely payments and collections
  • Prepare payroll records and ensure accurate statutory deductions and remittances
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial accuracy and efficiency

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

More Details on Experience

  • Proven experience as an Accountant, preferably in an SME environment
  • Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax regulations and statutory compliance requirements
  • Experience with Zoho Books or other accounting software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

 Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience handling VAT, PAYE, and statutory filings
  • Experience in a hands-on accounting role (not purely supervisory)
  • Familiarity with hospitality, service, or SME operations is an added advantage
