Our client, a professional governing body in Kenya, wishes to recruit a highly competent, passionate, dedicated and results-oriented professional to fill the position of Education & Examination Officer.
The Education & Examination Officer is responsible for supporting the implementation of nursing and midwifery education, examination, indexing, accreditation and quality assurance activities of the Council. The officer assists in regulating nursing and midwifery education programmes, administering licensure examinations, verifying qualifications, indexing students, monitoring compliance with approved curricula and examination standards, and implementing quality management systems.
Description
Duties and responsibilities shall entail:
1.Education Regulation and Quality Assurance
- Implement approved nursing and midwifery education policies, guidelines, standards and procedures.
- Facilitate implementation of approved nursing and midwifery curricula and training materials.
- Process student indexing applications from approved training institutions.
- Verify eligibility and supporting documentation for students presented for indexing.
- Coordinate indexing of students trained in Kenya and those trained outside Kenya.
- Support review and evaluation of nursing and midwifery curricula and training programmes.
- Participate in assessment and approval of nursing and midwifery programmes and training institutions.
- Conduct compliance audits regarding curriculum implementation and approved training standards.
- Support training institutions through technical guidance, consultations and capacity-building initiatives.
- Verify credentials and qualifications of nurses trained outside Kenya and prepare evaluation reports.
- Maintain accurate records and databases for indexed students, approved programmes and institutions.
2.Examination Administration
- Implement examination policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Process examination applications and verify candidate eligibility.
- Monitor examination registration processes and prepare candidate lists.
- Participate in administration, invigilation and supervision of licensure examinations.
- Assist in assessment and approval of examination centres.
- Support preparation, distribution and accountability of examination materials.
- Participate in identification and coordination of examination setters, moderators and invigilators.
- Process examination-related appeals and candidate inquiries.
- Prepare examination reports and performance summaries.
- Maintain examination records and databases.
3.Research, Monitoring and Evaluation
- Collect, analyse and maintain education and examination data.
- Support departmental research activities relating to nursing and midwifery education and practice.
- Assist in preparation of policy briefs, technical reports and position papers.
- Maintain departmental research databases and records.
- Support dissemination of research findings and best practices.
- Execute monitoring and evaluation activities and maintain performance data.
- Monitor implementation of departmental work plans and performance targets.
- Monitor and report on departmental risks and mitigation measures.
4.Quality Management Systems
- Implement quality management systems and quality assurance procedures.
- Maintain departmental quality records and documentation.
- Participate in ISO implementation, audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support implementation of audit recommendations and corrective actions.
5.Stakeholder Engagement and Customer Service
- Liaise with training institutions, examination centres, students and other stakeholders.
- Provide information and guidance on education and examination services.
- Respond to stakeholder inquiries and correspondence.
- Participate in stakeholder forums, workshops and consultative meetings.
6.Administrative Responsibilities
- Prepare periodic reports and departmental statistics.
- Participate in departmental planning, budgeting and procurement activities.
- Maintain departmental records and correspondence.
- Participate in committees, taskforces and working groups as assigned.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, or Midwifery from a recognized institution.
- Registration Certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- Valid Practising Licence issued by the Nursing Council of Kenya.
- Membership in a relevant professional body in good standing.
- Curriculum Development Course lasting not less than two (2) weeks from a recognized institution.
- Proficiency in Computer Applications.
