Additionally, Tourlast collaborates with airline owners by providing them with a dedicated system to list their airlines on our platform. Our application and web-based service platform simplifies travel bookings for users and supports travel agents.
As we prepare for our official launch, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Cybersecurity Expert to join our team and ensure the security, integrity, and reliability of our platform.
Description
We are looking for a Cybersecurity Expert who will be responsible for safeguarding Tourlast’s digital infrastructure, ensuring the security of user data, and protecting our platform from cyber threats. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cybersecurity, programming, and data protection, with a deep understanding of the travel and tourism industry. This role is critical as we finalize testing, fix bugs, and prepare for a secure and successful launch.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform Security:
- Design, implement, and maintain robust cybersecurity measures for Tourlast’s web and application-based platforms.
- Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability testing, and penetration testing to identify and address potential risks.
- Develop and enforce security policies, protocols, and procedures to protect sensitive data.
- Data Protection:
- Ensure the security of user data, employee data, and financial transactions on the platform.
- Implement encryption, firewalls, and other security measures to safeguard data.
- Monitor and respond to data breaches or security incidents promptly.
- Testing and Maintenance:
- Collaborate with the development team to identify and fix security-related bugs during the testing phase.
- Perform regular maintenance and updates to the security infrastructure.
- Provide technical reports on security status, risks, and improvements.
- Compliance and Best Practices:
- Ensure compliance with local and international data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, Kenya Data Protection Act).
- Stay updated on the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies to keep Tourlast’s systems secure.
- Employee Training and Awareness:
- Train employees on cybersecurity best practices and protocols.
- Promote a culture of security awareness within the organization.
- Travel Industry Expertise:
- Leverage knowledge of the travel and tourism industry to address industry-specific security challenges.
- Ensure secure integration with third-party systems (e.g., airlines, hotels, property providers).
- Incident Response:
- Develop and implement an incident response plan to address security breaches or cyberattacks.
- Investigate and resolve security incidents in a timely manner.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with software developers, IT teams, and management to ensure security is integrated into all aspects of the platform.
- Provide guidance on secure coding practices and system architecture.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field. Equivalent certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, CEH) are highly desirable

- Minimum of 6+ years of experience in cybersecurity, preferably in the travel and tourism industry.
- Strong programming skills and experience with secure coding practices.
- In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks, encryption, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
- Familiarity with data protection laws and regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Must be a Kenyan citizen and reside in Kenya.
