The Star Publications Limited is a publisher of the Star Newspaper, a leading daily in Kenya. We are looking for a seasoned, strategic and visionary Commercial Manager.

The Commercial Manager will be responsible for formulating and coordinating strategic advertising plans, implement them to ensure growth of advertising
revenue and market share for the Star Publications Limited. This role will
be reporting to the Chief Operating Officer.

• Design and implement strategies that grow advertising through customer growth and retention across sectors.
• Design work plans that exploit the market place and guide the sales team in their day to day sales activities and operations.
• Track the sales managers performance on a daily, weekly and monthly basis and regularly communicate the status on performance to management
• Carry out regular sales meetings with staff to review sales progress and maintain good employee relations to ensure the highest degree of retention, morale and discipline
• Carry out regular clients list review, market intelligence and discuss with Sales Managers and Sales Executives on potential new clients
• Ensure sales Contracts are in place with the appropriate clients and identify their associates and follow ups, resolve any complains and keep the COO informed
• Maintain close liaison with relevant departments and report on monthly sales and collection
• Liaise with Managing Editor on all PR related issues, Marketing on brand related issues, Circulation on our numbers and follow up with relevant parties to ensure effective client service
• Coordinate activities with the COO and other managers and achieve teamwork in the department and enhance the cross functional potential
• Ensure that customers Relationship Management System is update daily on all sales activities, meetings and customer contacts
• Handle all functions, marketing campaigns, promotions involving the advertisers and ensure prompt invitations are sent out in liaison with the customer service team and the events team.
• Coach, mentor and manage the performance of staff within the department.

3 years’ experience in a similar position

Experience in media industry will be an added advantage
