Summary

Reports to: Technical Manager

Job Purpose:

We are looking for highly organized candidates with a minimum of 3 years’ hands on experience as technician preferably in activities related to weights and measurements.

Description

Key Responsibilities;

  1. Maintenance and Repair of Electro-Mechanical Equipment: Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electro-mechanical systems and equipment, including electronic weighing systems, to ensure operational efficiency.

  2. Calibration of Weighing Equipment: Conduct accurate calibration of Type 3 electronic weighing equipment as per the standards set by the weights and measures department, ensuring equipment precision.

  3. Compliance and Safety Assurance: Ensure all work complies with industry standards, safety protocols, and Chapter Six of the Constitution. Adhere to safety and regulatory requirements at all times.

  4. Technical Support: Provide hands-on technical support to the team, assisting in the integration, setup, and testing of electro-mechanical systems.

  5. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of maintenance, repairs, and calibrations, including compliance documentation. Report on equipment condition and issues to the Technical Manager.

  6. Inventory and Tool Management: Monitor and manage inventory for tools, spare parts, and consumables, ensuring all necessary resources are available for timely maintenance and repairs.

  7. Continuous Improvement and Training: Stay updated on industry standards and new technology related to electro-mechanical and weighing systems. Participate in relevant training to maintain certifications and improve skills.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  1. Equipment Calibration Accuracy: Achieve a 98% accuracy rate in the calibration of Type 3 electronic weighing equipment, ensuring measurement precision.

  2. Timeliness of Repairs and Maintenance: Complete 95% of maintenance and repair tasks within scheduled timeframes, minimizing equipment downtime.

  3. Compliance Rate: Maintain a 100% compliance rate with safety regulations, industry standards, and Chapter Six requirements, ensuring no regulatory infractions.

  4. System Uptime: Maintain operational uptime of 98% or higher for all electro-mechanical and weighing equipment.

  5. Issue Response Time: Respond to and resolve 90% of technical issues within 24 hours to maintain efficient operations.

  6. Documentation and Record Accuracy: Ensure all service and calibration documentation is 100% accurate and submitted on time, supporting regulatory compliance.

  7. Inventory Accuracy and Availability: Maintain an accurate inventory with at least 95% availability of critical tools and parts to prevent delays in repairs and maintenance.

Education

  • Must possess a minimum qualification of Diploma /Degree in Electrical , Electronic Engineering ,Computer Science or  related courses from a recognized university.
  • Has certificate of competence from weights and measures department to carry out repairs to Type 3 electronic weighing equipment.

More Details on Experience

  • A minimum of least (3) hands on experience as technician  preferably in activities related to weights and measurements.

More Details on Skills

  • Proficiency in computer
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
  • Valid Annual Practicing License from recognized professional body
  • The candidate should be of high integrity (provide a current certificate of good conduct).
