Summary

Reports to: Technical Manager

Job Purpose:

We are looking for highly organized candidates with a minimum of 3 years’ hands on experience as technician preferably in activities related to weights and measurements.

 

Description

Key Responsibilities

  1. Installation and Maintenance of Electrical Systems: Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.

  2. Weights and Measurements Calibration: Perform calibration and maintenance on equipment related to weights and measurements, ensuring accuracy and reliability in readings.

  3. Technical Inspections and Diagnostics: Conduct routine inspections, troubleshoot issues, and perform diagnostics on electrical systems to identify and resolve faults.

  4. Compliance and Safety Assurance: Ensure that all electrical systems and operations comply with regulatory standards, including the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution. Adhere to safety protocols and best practices.

  5. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of work performed, inspections, repairs, and equipment calibration. Regularly report on equipment status and any issues to the Technical Manager.

  6. Inventory Management: Track and manage inventory of tools, equipment, and spare parts, ensuring availability for maintenance and repairs.

  7. Support for Technical Projects: Assist the Technical Manager in implementing technical projects related to electrical systems, providing hands-on support as needed.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  1. Equipment Calibration Accuracy: Achieve a 98% accuracy rate in the calibration of equipment related to weights and measurements.

  2. Timeliness of Maintenance and Repairs: Complete 95% of maintenance and repair tasks within the scheduled timeframe to minimize equipment downtime.

  3. Compliance with Safety Standards: Maintain a 100% compliance rate with safety and regulatory standards, including Chapter Six requirements, with no major safety incidents.

  4. Equipment Uptime: Ensure that electrical systems and weights/measurements equipment have an operational uptime of 98% or higher.

  5. Response Time for Technical Issues: Respond to and resolve 90% of reported technical issues within 24 hours to maintain operational efficiency.

  6. Documentation and Reporting Accuracy: Ensure all maintenance records and calibration documentation are 100% accurate and updated promptly after each task.

  7. Inventory Accuracy and Availability: Maintain an accurate inventory with a minimum of 95% availability of essential tools and parts to support maintenance needs.

Education

  • Must possess a minimum qualification of Diploma /Degree in Electrical , Electronic Engineering ,Computer Science or  related courses from a recognized university.
  • Has certificate of competence from weights and measures department to carry out repairs to Type 3 electronic weighing equipment

More Details on Experience

A minimum of least (3) hands on experience  as technician  preferably in activities related to weights and measurements

More Details on Skills

  • The candidate should be of high integrity (provide a current certificate of good conduct).
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
  • Valid Annual Practicing License from recognized professional body
